Code of Conduct
HackForChrist, BeachHack S08 · Updated 22 October 2026
BeachHack exists so that every student can build, learn and compete in a safe and welcoming space. Every team member agrees to this Code of Conduct when registering for HackForChrist.
1. Scope
This code applies to every participant at every stage: registration, the 16-hour campus round on 22 December 2026, the 36-hour round at Nidhi Cottage Homestay, Chavakkad, from 5 to 7 February 2027, and all online spaces, including WhatsApp groups, direct messages and social media, before, during and after the event.
2. Respect
- Treat every participant, mentor, judge, volunteer, staff member and neighbour with courtesy and respect.
- Harassment, discrimination and intimidation are not tolerated. This includes offensive remarks about gender, caste, religion, region, language, disability, appearance or background; threats; stalking; unwelcome physical contact or attention; and photographing or recording anyone who has asked you not to.
- If you see someone being mistreated, make sure they are safe and inform an organiser.
3. Fair play
- Provide accurate details and sign in only with your own college Google account.
- Each person may belong to one team only. Once a team submits, its members are locked and only the organisers can make changes.
- Teams apply with an idea and a pitch deck. All project code must be written during the hackathon rounds; code written in advance leads to disqualification.
- Open-source libraries, public APIs and frameworks are permitted, and must be disclosed when you present.
- Never present another person's or team's work as your own. The judges' decisions are final.
4. Safety and the venues
- Follow the instructions of the organisers and venue staff at all times.
- Enter the sea only when the organisers permit it, never alone and never after dark.
- Alcohol, illegal substances and any behaviour that puts others at risk are prohibited.
- Respect the campus, the homestay, its staff and its neighbours. Stay within the permitted areas, keep noise down where others are resting and leave every space clean.
- You are responsible for your own equipment. Do not handle others' belongings without permission, and report anything lost, found or damaged.
5. Reporting a concern
Speak to any organiser in person or email beachhack@cce.edu.in. If anyone is in immediate danger, call 112 first. You do not need evidence to make a report. Reports are shared only with the organisers who need to know, and you will not be identified without your consent.
6. Enforcement
Anyone who breaches this code may be warned, removed from the event or disqualified, at the organisers’ discretion. Serious matters may be referred to the college or the police.
